They may list important changes and modifications to your system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When a new version of Atmosphere releases, you can update Atmosphere by following these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Turn off your Nintendo Switch and plug your SD card in your computer.<\/li><li>Download the latest release of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/Atmosphere-NX\/Atmosphere\/releases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Atmosphere<\/a>&nbsp;(Download the&nbsp;<code>atmosphere-(version)-master-(version)+hbl-(version)+hbmenu-(version).zip<\/code>&nbsp;release of Atmosphere.)<\/li><li>Copy&nbsp;<em>the contents of<\/em>&nbsp;the Atmosphere&nbsp;<code>.zip<\/code>&nbsp;file to the root of your SD card.<ul><li>If you are prompted to overwrite files, do so.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>(If your hekate is not on the latest version) Update hekate via the steps below<\/li><li>Put your SD card back in your Switch and launch CFW.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"updating-hekate\">Updating Hekate<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When updating Hekate always make sure to&nbsp;<em>read the release notes<\/em>. They may list important changes and modifications to your system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When a new version of Hekate releases, you can update by following these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Turn off your Nintendo Switch and plug your SD card in your computer.<\/li><li>Download the latest version of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/CTCaer\/Hekate\/releases\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hekate<\/a>&nbsp;(Download the&nbsp;<code>hekate_ctcaer_(version).zip<\/code>&nbsp;release of hekate).<\/li><li>Copy the&nbsp;<code>bootloader<\/code>&nbsp;folder from the Hekate&nbsp;<code>.zip<\/code>&nbsp;file to the root of your SD card. If you are asked to overwrite or merge files while copying, say yes to merge\/overwrite them.<\/li><li>Put your SD card back in your Switch and launch Hekate.<\/li><li>Go to the Options tab at the top right of the screen. Turn &#8220;Update Reboot 2 Payload&#8221; on the bottom right ON (if it isn&#8217;t on already). Tap &#8220;Save Options&#8221; at the bottom of the screen.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"updating-your-firmware\">Updating your firmware<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Always check&nbsp;<em>before<\/em>&nbsp;updating your system firmware if the latest version of Atmosphere&nbsp;<em>as well<\/em>&nbsp;as the latest version of Hekate support the firmware version you are updating towards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note about autoRCM<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have autoRCM enabled and you&#8217;re updating your system while in stock firmware,&nbsp;<strong>updating will disable autoRCM<\/strong>&nbsp;and you will need to enter RCM manually to boot custom firmware again. To prevent autoRCM from being disabled, boot CFW on sysMMC and update through settings from there, as booting without AutoRCM&nbsp;<ins>will burn any preserved fuses<\/ins>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"about-emummc\">About emuMMC<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>sysMMC and emuMMC have separate system firmwares and need to be updated separately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you keep your emuMMC offline, you will have to use a gamecard to update your system firmware, synchronize it with another Nintendo Switch or dump an updated firmware from your sysMMC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Do you have an eMMC backup yet?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please do not start this guide without doing a RAW GPP and a BOOT 0\/1 eMMC backup!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can learn how to make one&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nh-server.github.io\/switch-guide\/user_guide\/sysnand\/making_essential_backups\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Downgrading<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This guide is made for updating your emuMMC. It is&nbsp;<strong>not<\/strong>&nbsp;for downgrading. Downgrading at all, sysMMC or emuMMC, is not recommended and not worth it. Downgrading is also very dangerous and can lead to serious complications even when performed correctly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"what-you-will-need\">What you will need<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The latest release of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/suchmememanyskill\/TegraExplorer\/releases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TegraExplorer<\/a><\/li><li>The latest release of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/Atmosphere-NX\/Atmosphere\/releases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Atmosphere<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"preparing-your-sd-card\">Preparing your SD card<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Insert your microSD card into your computer.<\/li><li>Download&nbsp;<code>TegraExplorer.bin<\/code>&nbsp;and place it somewhere on your PC (A good idea is to put it where you keep all your switch payloads like Hekate).<\/li><li>Update Atmosphere and Hekate by using the above guides.<\/li><li>If you haven&#8217;t already, update the sysMMC to the latest firmware.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"dumping-your-sysmmc-firmware\">Dumping your sysMMC firmware<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Make sure your sysMMC is up to date. If your sysMMC is not up-to-date, update it through the System Settings.<\/li><li>Inject&nbsp;<code>TegraExplorer.bin<\/code>&nbsp;using TegraRCMGUI (Like you would with Hekate).<\/li><li>Using the joystick and the A buttons, select&nbsp;<code>FirmwareDump.te<\/code>.<\/li><li>Wait about 1-2 minutes for the tool to dump your firmware.<\/li><li>When the tool finishes, press any button.<\/li><li>Select&nbsp;<code>Reboot to atmosphere\/reboot_payload.bin<\/code>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"updating-your-emummc-with-daybreak\">Updating your emuMMC with Daybreak<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In Hekate go to&nbsp;<code>Launch -&gt; Atmosphere FSS0 Emu<\/code>.<\/li><li>Once booted, hold&nbsp;<code>R<\/code>&nbsp;while launching a game to boot into the homebrew menu.<\/li><li>Find Daybreak in the homebrew menu and launch it.<\/li><li>Tap on&nbsp;<code>Install<\/code>&nbsp;and navigate to&nbsp;<code>tegraexplorer\/Firmware\/&lt;latest firmware number&gt;<\/code>.<\/li><li>Tap on&nbsp;<code>Continue<\/code>&nbsp;and then&nbsp;<code>Preserve settings<\/code>.<ul><li>If you see the message&nbsp;<code>Warning: exFAT firmware is missing or corrupt<\/code>, you likely don&#8217;t have the exFAT drivers installed on your sysMMC. Just press continue if this is the case.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>If it is available choose&nbsp;<code>Install (FAT32 + exFAT)<\/code>, otherwise&nbsp;<code>Install (FAT32)<\/code>&nbsp;and then&nbsp;<code>Continue<\/code>.<\/li><li>Wait until Daybreak completes installing the dumped firmware.<\/li><li>Once it completes, it will ask if you want to reboot. Tap&nbsp;<code>Reboot<\/code>.<\/li><li>Once rebooted, launch into emuMMC and verify your system works.
